Shabby Chic Headboard Ideas.

doorI’m not one for traditional pieces of furniture. I like hitting up thrift stores and antique markets for multi functional pieces that add a little character to my space. My latest adventure is coming up with a new idea for a head board. For now I have a very large painting hanging in place of a head board but I’ve been shopping around for different ideas. Here are a couple of them.

Antique Doors: add great texture and character when placed behind a bed. There is no assembly required for this. Find a pair of antique doors and prop them again the wall behind your bed. They may need a sanding, faux finish or a good scrub before they are used but they look great! Plus if you know where to look you can often run across people who are giving these things away.

dividerFolding Room Divider: You’ve seen these in many different sizes and styles. They are those little partitions that work well to decoratively break up your space, well they also look good as a head board. I like a bit of an Asian flare and enjoy the ones made out of rice paper but you can definitely find one that matches your style.
